چکیده

Assuming that the population remains small, one can truncate at given values of n1 and n2 to yield a finite set of differential equations. For an initial condition, we take the population to be zero, that is, ρ1,1,1,1 = 1 with all other elements of the density matrix set to zero. Eq. A.6 can then be solved numerically (we used the Adams-Moulton-Bashforth procedure) until a steady state is reached. Note that one should also check at each time that there is negligible population in the truncated states.

Single photons from coupled quantum modes.

Single photon emitters often rely on a strong nonlinearity to make the behavior of a quantum mode susceptible to a change in the number of quanta between one and two. In most systems, the strength of nonlinearity is weak, such that changes at the single quantum level have little effect. Here, we consider coupled quantum modes and find that they can be strongly sensitive at the single quantum le...

Dynamics of a Raman coupled model: entanglement and quantum computation

The evolution of a Raman coupled three-level Λ atom with two quantized cavity modes is studied in the large detuning case; i.e. when the upper atomic level can be adiabatically eliminated. Particularly the situation when the two modes are prepared in initial coherent or squeezed states, with a large average number of photons, is investigated. It is found that the atom, after specific interactio...

Generation and Detection of Continuous Variable Quantum Vortex States via Compact Photonic Devices

A quantum photonic circuit with the ability to produce continuous variable quantum vortex states is proposed. This device produces two single-mode squeezed states which go through a Mach-Zehnder interferometer where photons are subtracted by means of weakly coupled directional couplers towards ancillary waveguides. The detection of a number of photons in these modes heralds the production of a ...

Cavity quantum electrodynamics with Anderson-localized modes.

A major challenge in quantum optics and quantum information technology is to enhance the interaction between single photons and single quantum emitters. This requires highly engineered optical cavities that are inherently sensitive to fabrication imperfections. We have demonstrated a fundamentally different approach in which disorder is used as a resource rather than a nuisance. We generated st...

Microfiber-microcavity system for efficient single photon collection.

Single photon sources are key components for various quantum information processing. For practical quantum applications, bright single photon sources with efficient fiber-optical interfaces are highly required. Here, bright fiber-coupled single photon sources based on InAs quantum dots are demonstrated through the k-vector matching between a microfiber mode and a normal mode of the linear photo...
